Currently my home gym is the Powershop Gym in Brookings, SD. I absolutely love the gym and all the people who are helping keep me in shape in my first pregnancy! Go POWERSHOP!!
I grew up on a dairy farm so throwing bales, scraping alley ways as well as manure and feed, carrying buckets, pushing wheelbarrows full of something 😉 or moving calves was just the norm. Everyday on the dairy was physical for me, I believe this is why I enjoyed weightlifting in high school so much. I started as a freshmen in high school and I never quit. I ended my senior year competing on the first ever Watertown High School State Powerlifting Team! I was also the first ever female powerlifting competitor from my high school!! I love lifting! My state deadlift record in South Dakota still stands at 340 pounds (154 kg), my weight at the time was 150 pounds (68 kg). My best ever squat was 265 pounds (120 kg) and my best ever bench press was 135 pounds (61 kg).
This page is for accountability. I think it’s important to keep track of progress and I am happy to share this part of my life with y’all!!
Since 2012 I have lost over 30 pounds mostly due to increased awareness and education on nutrition and a consistent work out program with accountability, healthy diet supplements (protein, fiber, and vitamins), cardio and resistance training. I have many people and animals (working with cows requires a lot of walking and some days a lot less eating) to thank including the Crossfit Nampa of Nampa, ID, Powershop Gym of Brookings, SD and Team Lund at Tony’s Gym of Albany, GA! I am currently doing my best to stay in shape for the big due day in April 2016 when Baby Ruiz will make his or her appearance so my main focus is healthy weight gain as necessary for baby and good solid cardio with some resistance training. Not to worry, all is approved by my doc and I keep my heart rate under 140 BPM!
